Charles H. Paine letter to Edward Paine, 1813 January 29.

Consists of one autograph letter signed by Charles H. Paine to his father, General Edward Paine of Painesville, Ohio, describing the American defeat at River Raisin. Paine also discusses the hardships experienced during the retreat from Frenchtown under General William Henry Harrison and the possibility of an upcoming counterattack. The letter is dated 29 January 1813 from "Camp in the Swamp between Miami + Sandusky".
